Case History
In 1842, based on his improvement of the "ground hog" threshing
machine, Jerome Increase Case established the company that bears
his name still. Located in Racine, Wisconsin, on the shore of Lake
Michigan because of the availability of water power, Case was the
first builder of steam engines for agricultural use eventually
becoming the world's largest steam engine manufacturer. Their Old
No. 1 is now on display in the Smithsonian Institution.
In the year 2000, the 100,000th skid steer in
Case's popular 1800 Series rolled off the assembly line.
